The new Rimworld DLC is confirmed, and it lets you build your own Gravship

Rimworld, a beloved colony sim in the vein of Oxygen Not Included and Norland, just announced a new update and a huge DLC called Odyssey.

Originally launched back in 2018, Rimworld has gone on to establish itself as a favorite in the colony sim genre. It, like Dwarf Fortress, Norland, Oxygen Not Included, and Clanfolk, offers players the opportunity to try their hand at building and managing a bustling settlement, which naturally involves deep game systems and plenty of detail. That makes the launch of new material set to expand these systems more than welcome, something Rimworld is about to provide when its recently announced 1.6 update and Odyssey DLC arrive next month.

Probably the most exciting addition announced for management game's players to build their own gravship, which, over time, can be expanded into a mobile second base capable of traveling across increasingly long distances. While the base game includes one version of a ship, Odyssey's gravship is much more involved, allowing a far greater level of interaction. It's capable of taking the player into space, requiring them to construct protective systems, like oxygen and heating production, to survive.

Alongside this ship, the DLC will include new environments, which range from ruined cities and grasslands to lava fields and icy glacial plains. These are coupled with landmarks and dozens of new animals, quests spanning the added maps, and a wealth of unique gear, such as a sawed-off shotgun and golden revolver.

At the same time, Rimworld will receive the free 1.6 update, which, per the game's Steam page, will provide "big performance improvements, quality of life changes, better tools for deg bases, caravan improvements, greater variety in maps, flying chickens, and more."
