The new FF14 7.25 patch notes unveil the Occult Crescent exploration zone

Square Enix has finally dropped Final Fantasy 14 7.25, and the patch notes detail Occult Crescent, Phantom jobs and weapons, and more.

The Final Fantasy 14 7.25 patch notes are here, and they detail the game's Occult Crescent exploration zone, new Hildibrand Adventures, Mamool Ja allied society quests, and job buffs. So if you've been itching for more FF14 content since Dawntrail launched last year, the latest update is here to deliver that in spades. With 7.3 set to continue to story of Sphene, this latest patch is going to keep you grinding away until then.

There's a lot to unpack in 7.25, so I'm going to start with Occult Crescent. This is the new exploration zone arriving with Dawntrail, acting as a follow-up to the likes of Eureka and Bozja. You can obtain new gear, forge new weapons, and dive into some large-scale activities unlike any seen in Final Fantasy 14 so far.

You've got access to FATEs, Critical Encounters, and the high-end duty of Forked Tower: Blood, which s up to 48 players at once. That's not all, however, as the Occult Crescent is accompanied by the MMO's FF5-inspired Phantom jobs. These work in tandem with your existing job, and provide gameplay enhancements alongside their own internal leveling system. You can use these Phantom job skills alongside your normal job, so it'll be up to you to discover what ability combinations work best. Your progress on the Occult Crescent is built around a separate leveling system, however, so you'll need to accrue Knowledge by completing quests and defeating enemies.

As you explore the new zone, you'll also come across Phantom weapons, the level 100 relic weapons for Dawntrail. These are directly tied to the Occult Crescent, and can be enhanced as you progress through the new exploration content.

The hope is that all of these new Occult Crescent-related features will finally add more than enough reasons to keep playing Dawntrail. The latest FF14 expansion has been my absolute favorite so far, but I often find myself stuck for things to do once I've got my raid and alliance raid rewards all squared away.

Luckily, Occult Crescent isn't all that's come to FF14 with patch 7.25. The Pelupelu society quests have now been ed by the Mamool Ja, giving you another reason to every day. The more quests you complete, the more Mamool Ja nanook you'll earn to trade in with the relevant vendors, but you'll need to keep coming back if you want to see everything on offer.

Everyone's favorite inspector extraordinaire and Gentleman of Light is also back in 7.25, as the Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures arrive with the latest patch. You'll need to be done with the MSQ beyond Crossroads, and have finished The Case of the Displaced Inspector quest to get started.

To round out the patch notes, there are also some job changes to Machinist, Summoner, Bard, and Ninja. Square Enix has buffed each job's AoE skills, meaning you'll do more damage to secondary targets caught in your attacks.

"In patch 7.25, we reviewed the balance of offensive capabilities within the DPS role during the AAC Cruiserweight M2 (Savage) phase in which multiple enemies spawn, and made adjustments to actions accordingly," Square Enix writes. "For jobs exhibiting lower area of effect damage output, we have increased potencies and diminished or completely removed potency reductions when engaging multiple foes."

Square Enix has made Final Fantasy 14 patch 7.25 available now on all platforms.
