The Dead by Daylight Twisted Masquerade is about to come back, but this year's event will be the final one. The beloved DBD celebration is going out with a bang, as Behaviour Interactive sets the stage for something completely different. 2026 is set to be the horror game's tenth year, and the team has something entirely new in store.
As a part of the second multiplayer game's final Masquerade. The good news, however, is that anniversary events in general aren't going anywhere.
"We're going to close out with one last big 'hurrah,' before moving onto something completely brand new for our tenth anniversary next year," Banks says. "Come back a year from now, and we're going to have something really special for you."
As for what you can expect with this year's event, Behaviour Interactive is bringing back Invitations. In previous years, these were placed throughout a Trial and, once you grab one, you gain some powerful, otherworldly abilities.

The bag of Tryks is also returning, which radically changes every single match. In previous years, a collection of five cards was randomly selected before a game started, with the first activating at the beginning of the Trial.
The Father Campbell's Chapel map is also making a return, while the anniversary lobby is going to have a little bit of Five Nights at Freddy's theming, to help celebrate the launch of the highly anticipated DBD FNAF chapter.
While Banks says players really enjoyed Twisted Masquerade, they note that there was "one big friction point from last year" that the team wants to fix. This is the Remote Hook power, which has been tweaked to make sure that while a Killer is using it, it's no longer instant. Now, a Survivor has to look at a hook. The Killer must then hold a button for a period of time, and only then will the Survivor be teleported. "We're really hoping that creates some more friendly gameplay, some less abusive elements, and overall a much better party for everyone to play through," Banks says.
With this being the Final Twisted Masquerade, Behaviour is using it as a way to catch up on all the original characters yet to have a mask or outfit. Survivors like Vittorio, Jake, Taurie, and others now have masks, while the Houndmaster is also finally getting one, too.
As for the time-limited Twisted Masquerade items, Behaviour has a new plan to make sure you don't miss any of them when the event is over: some time afterwards, these items will come back into the store permanently.
To round out the celebration, all of DBD's original characters will be available for free for the duration of Twisted Masquerade. This means you can try any of these Survivors or Killers at no cost for a short time.
Dead by Daylight's final Twisted Masquerade event will run from Wednesday June 25, to Wednesday July 16.
