Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is coming, and we're going back to the future

Xbox and Activision have just revealed Call of Duty Black Ops 7, and it looks like it's going to be a futuristic sequel to Black Ops 2.

Xbox just closed out its latest summer showcase with a colossal reveal. Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is real, and you can get your first look at a cinematic for the game below.

That's right, FPS game is going to be set in 2035, as David Mason leads a Black Ops team against "a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else." For those of you who've not been playing CoD for a decade or more, that means this is a sort of sequel to Black Ops 2. That game was set in 2025, and also saw you playing as David Mason - so we're going back to the future!

The official Call of Duty Twitter has also confirmed that Black Ops 6 will have a co-op campaign, new multiplayer maps, and "The next twisted chapter of Round-Based Zombies in the Dark Aether." An official reveal is also coming this summer.

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 has officially been revealed at the end of the Xbox showcase, but there's not release date just yet.
